Working Class Heroes, a film made with the support of Film Center Serbia, had its world premiere on February 15th, 2022 as part of the “Panorama” program of the Berlin Film Festival. The film stars Jasna Đuričić and tells the story of a group of illegal construction workers who, left without money and basic rights, try to oppose their bosses. After the premiere screening, which was attended by screenwriter Ivan Kneževič, the film will be shown in Berlin on February 18th, 19th and 20th. The national premiere of the film will be held at the upcoming 50th FEST, on March 4th, 2022.
In a statement for the website of the Film Center of Serbia, screenwriter Ivan Knežević conveyed a part of the Berlin atmosphere: “The world premiere of the film was held in front of the full first hall of the Berlin Zoo Palace. Full, however, to half, because that is what the rigorous covid-19 measures require. Despite that, the atmosphere was great. The audience first laughed, then giggled nervously, and finally kept silent in disbelief. Exactly the result we expected! The reactions are great, the reviews are favorable, and I think that the team, led by Miloš Pušić, has something to be proud of. A great triumph for us personally, and a great wind in the back for the eternally neglected Novi Sad filmmakers. ”
