Four new episodes of the CBS series SEAL Team will be filmed this summer on location in Belgrade. Two of these four episodes will open the third season of the series and their story will be set in Belgrade. In the other two episodes, Belgrade will stand in for Paris and other European cities.
The series follows the Bravo team, an elite SEAL unit of the US Navy, as they plan and undertake dangerous missions around the world. The series lead is David Boreanaz, star of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Slayer, FBI and Bones. Boreanaz is also the producer of SEAL Team, and came to Belgrade for filming. This is one of the most successful US television series and the third season premiere is scheduled for October this year.
SEAL Team is filmed on locations in and around Belgrade and employs a large team of local filmmakers and actors. Nikola Kojo, Bojan Lazarov and Tamara Aleksić have key roles as guest stars in the first two episodes. The production is working closely with the Serbian police and the Ministry of Defense, as the Serbian armed forces are shown in these episodes as allies and associates of the SEAL unit.
According to a statement from Balkanic Media, the support of the Prime Minister’s Office, together with the Government, the Serbian Film Association and the Office of the Mayor of Belgrade, was instrumental in realizing this demanding production. The series highlights Belgrade as a modern cosmopolitan capital, relying on its specific culture and beauty, and with Serbs in the role of positive characters. The producers of the series were attracted by great locations, the cooperation of the Serbian Government and the experience of local film workers. The tax breaks for production of audiovisual works were also one of the key elements that attracted CBS to record here.
The local production company is Balkanic Media, which has recently worked on the production of the television series The Outpost for NBC Universal and CW, whose second season was filmed at PFI Studio and locations across Belgrade, and which has already aired on the SyFy channel.
