The Serbian documentary The Blacklisted, directed by Sara Marković and Nikola Dragović, has won the Award of Merit at The Impact DOCS Awards. The Impact DOCS Awards recognize a creative approach to film, with an emphasis on social engagement.

It had its world premiere at this year’s BELDOCS Festival in Belgrade. Writer and producer is Dejan Marković. The director of photography is Matija Munjiza Petrović, and the film is edited by Nikola Dragović and Milan Jakonić. The music is composed by Jug Konstantin Marković. Dobrica Viđnjić was in charge of the sound. The executive producer is Minja Jovanović. The set designer is Mihailo Mošescu and costume designer is Jana Zaharijević. The cast includes: Lan Lihua, Martin Angelov, Lilia Kostova, Dejan Marković Skile, Chen Xiaoyang, Yael Levin, Gisela Olson, Georgy Pleshkov, Milena Atanasova, Christian Palacek, Mariana Holjevac and Mira Dozet.

Synopsis: What happens when the state designates an average man as an enemy? Following the events on the sidelines of the 2014 Serbian-Chinese Summit in Belgrade, when police effectively kidnapped a group of human rights activists from EU countries, we discover the story of the brutal persecution of Falun Gong meditation practices in China, the political pressure on small countries, but also the bitter truth about the world we live in – where trade is prioritized and human rights take a back seat.
