Over 150 film professionals from the country and abroad are expected at this year’s festival, and the festival is pleased to announce the arrival of Margarethe von Trott, winner of the Aleksandar Lifka Award in 2004, with which the Palić European Film Festival rewards filmmakers for their outstanding contribution to European cinema. Margarethe von Trott received the award in 2004 together with Živorad Mitrović.
As part of the pre-festival program, as in previous years, films will be shown in five selections, with seven films in both the Best of Europe and Europe4Kids programs. Immediately after that, the Tribute program to the winners of the Aleksandar Lifka award will be shown on the big screen of the Subotica Eurocinema, while the Classics on the Square program will be held on the big screen in the center of Subotica.
In the official program of the festival on the Summer Stage, in the Abazija cinema in Palić, as well as in the Eurocinema and Aleksandar Lifka cinemas in Subotica, more than 100 films will be shown in 11 selections and programs: Main competition program, Parallels and Collisions, Young Spirit, Earth in Focus, New Hungarian film, New European documentaries, Eco dox, Tribute to the winner of the Underground Spirit award, EFA Shorts, Selection of films from the Zygmond Vilmoš festival, selection of student films, presentation of two festivals (domestic and foreign), as well as several films as part of special screenings.
In addition to the film program, all visitors to Palić can expect a varied supporting program this year. An exhibition dedicated to the history of FEF Palić, an exhibition of film posters and an exhibition dedicated to the great Serbian actor Mija Aleksić will be set up at the festival locations, and book promotions, panel discussions and concerts will round up the program.
As in previous years, activities for professionals are also planned: a film critic workshop that will gather participants from 11 countries, a workshop intended for members of the MIOB network of European film festivals, as well as the summer conference of the Network of Cinema Screeners of Serbia, where the emphasis will be on European films.
This year, as part of the Palić European Film Festival, the AFIFS awards will be given for the best domestic film and the best Serbian minority production. Film direction students from Serbia will have the opportunity to present their works and to talk with the guests of the festival – film experts from different fields.
