The film Have you seen this woman? by Matija Gluščević and Dušan Zorić will have its American premiere at the prestigious New Directors/New Films festival in New York. The screenings will be held on Thursday, April 6th at 8:45 pm at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, MoMA, and on Friday, April 7th at 6:00 pm at the Walter Reade Theater (Lincoln Center).
The New Directors/New Films Festival was founded in 1972 and is a joint project of MoMA and the Film Association of Lincoln Center in New York. It was created with the idea of showing the films of up-and-coming directors, most of whom have become well-known and very successful authors over time.
So far, the festival has shown the debut works of Pedro Almodovar, Spike Lee, Guillermo del Toro, and has presented significant authors such as Luca Guadagnino, Wong Kar-wai, Michael Haneke, Agnieszka Holland, Kelly Reichart and many others.
“Being invited to show our film at the festival where some of our favorite directors started their careers is both beautiful and terrifying at the same time. We are looking forward to talking with the New York audience and it seems to us that Draginja will find its place in that wild and magical city”, the authors of the film said on the occasion of the screening in New York.
Čarna Vučinić, the film’s producer points out that it is a great honor to be in the selection of the best debut works from around the world, which will be shown at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. “This is a very significant achievement for the entire Serbian film industry, and we expect that it will open the door for the further distribution of our film in America,” said Vučinić. Film Center Serbia (FCS) supported the production of this film, and the talks after the film screening in New York are supported by Kontakt – the Association for Encouraging and Researching the Performing Arts in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The world premiere of the film “Have you seen this woman” took place at the 79th Venice Film Festival.
The film has so far been screened at several festivals around the world and won the award for best director at the International Film Festival in Bangkok and the Grand Prix “Aleksandar Saša Petrović” award at the 28th Auteur’s Film Festival in Belgrade.
Have you seen this woman? is a story about a middle-aged woman, Draginja, who tries to break out of her skin through three different lives. The main role in the film is played by one of the most renowned actresses in the region, Ksenija Marinković.
Isidora Simijonović, Boris Isaković, Vlasta Velisavljević, Goran Bogdan, Jasna Đuričić, Radoje Čupić, Olga Odanović, Milica Mihajlović, Ivana Vuković, Miloš Timotijević, Isidora Minić, Alex Elektra and others appear in supporting roles.
