We would like to inform you that the open call for the first edition of the newly launched International Festival of Women’s Film “Petra”, which will be held in the Hall of the Belgrade Cultural Center between December 8th and 11th this year, has been officially announced. The application deadline is September 1st of 2022.
The festival was conceived as a celebration of women’s filmmaking, women filmmakers and films that explore women’s themes. The festival will feature filmmakers from around the world, as well as their feature and documentary films. The name PETRA symbolizes a strong woman who can do anything. It originates from ancient Greece and means “stone, rock”. In other words, Petra is a woman of stone, determined, strong, steadfast, one who does not know how to back down, a woman of strong will, a warrior.
The special guest of this year’s festival will be Maria Lea Evarsdottir from Reykjavik in Iceland, a producer who inspired director, screenwriter and producer Natalija Avramović, who participated in the RVK Feminist Film Festival in Reykjavik, to establish such a festival in Serbia.
The festival will be held with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia.
