JUST FOR THE RECORD

Just For The Record is a short anti-war story, about communication, loneliness, and mostly about a need to preserve positive memories above all. It`s also a subtle critique of self/destructive society that pushes itself away from its human essence and purpose. In a war affected neighbourhood main character dictaphone robot REC is desperately trying to find the way to connect to little bird that stops on its window. Using his play button to say something he finds himself shocked by the content he is displaying, sound of gunshots that scare the bird away. His mission is to make her come back and record her song over his “own voice” before his battery leaks. After desperate comical attempts at making false nest, false worms and other fake food that would make the bird come back, he gives up and takes out his own batteries in order to preserve them for some “better times”. Suddenly, the bird flies in scared by the shooting in the distance. She “wakes him up” and starts speaking to him. This time he uses the right moment and starts recording her voice. When the recording is done he tries to hug to hug the bird out of happiness but she gets scared from it and flies away. Only now, for the first time we see that the part of the attic is missing, taken away by the grenade. REC comes to the edge overlooking a ruined city and plays the recorded voice of a bird. Lights dim. His battery lights goes faster. We hear the sound of a bird.
