JOURNEY

Matija Štifanić is a 12-year-old, who, although he belongs to the "new" generation, differs from his peers because he wants to face a story from the past. His great-grandmother is Milka Menjak Štifanić, who arrived in Auschwitz as a partisan with the first women's transport (July 7, 1943) from the territory of the German occupation zone in Serbia. He did not have the opportunity to meet her, but he did have the opportunity to read her memoirs. He is the first in the family, when his great-grandmother's story interested him so much that he wanted to investigate it. In addition, he is preparing a donor exhibition, where he is trying to raise money to go to Auschwitz. The drawings are not only his personal experience of memoirs and what his great-grandmother experienced, but also a historical document of suffering in the struggle for freedom.
