The short animated film “Light and Shadows” by Rastko Ćirić will have its world premiere at the upcoming Göteborg Film Festival.
It is an adaptation of Goethe’s Faust, in which the main character sells his shadow to the Devil.
Midhat Ajanović says of the film: “Relying on Shadow Theater, Rastko Ćirić reminds us that the birthplace of animation is not film but theater, and that moving pictures are, above all, a merry dance between light and shadow. The renowned Serbian author’s new film is a somewhat ironic look at the history of moving pictures. ”
Rastko Ćirić wrote the script, directed, designed and animated the film. Additional animation was done by Iva Ćirić, who is also the producers, alongside Milan Stojanović. Sound editing and design are by Svetolik Mica Zajc and the composer is Nebojša Ignjatović.
The film was supported by Film Center Serbia.
