The Austrian Film Festival 2023 opened in Belgrade with the promotion of the book of essays “LegendArnie” about films starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. The editor of this edition, Aleksandar S. Janković, and the authors of the texts, Milutin Petrović, Biljana Maksić, Saša Radojević, Vladimir Slavica, and Zoran Stefanović, spoke about the book.
Before the presentation of the book, the audience was greeted by Marjan Vujović, director of the Museum of the Yugoslav Cinematheque, Gordan Matić, director of Film Center Serbia, and Adrian Feix, director of the Austrian Cultural Forum.
At the Austrian Film Festival 2023, the repertoire includes five film classics starring Arnold Schwarzenegger: Conan the Barbarian by John Milius (1982), Terminator by James Cameron (1984 ), John McTiernan’s Predator (1987), Paul Verhoeven’s Total Recall (1990), and James Cameron’s True Lies (1994).
The film program was opened at the Yugoslav Cinematheque on April 20th, with a screening of Conan the Barbarian and addresses by Milutin Petrović, the festival’s selector, and Adrian Feix, the director of the Austrian Cultural Forum.
Until April 23rd, the films Terminator, Predator and Total Recall will be shown at the Yugoslav Cinematheque. From April 20th to 23rd, films from the selection will also be on the repertoire at the cinemas Cineplexx Galerija in Belgrade, Cineplexx Promenada and Cineplexx Arena in Novi Sad, and from April 20th to 24th at the cinemas Cineplexx Kragujevac and Cineplexx Niš in cooperation with Niš Cultural Center.
The Austrian Film Festival 2023 will officially opens on April 21st in the Cultural Center of Belgrade Hall at 7 p.m. The festival will be opened by a screening of the film The Best of All Worlds, directed by Adrian Goiginger, who will address the visitors at the opening and then participate in a Q&A discussion after the screening.
The selection “Discovered – films of the new time” will be screened from April 20th to 25th, featuring seven contemporary Austrian films: The Best of All Worlds and Fox directed by Adrian Goiginger, Corsage directed by Marie Kreutzer, Dieter Berner’s Alma & Oskar, Stefan Ruzowitzky’s Narcissus and Goldmung and Patient Zero, and Vera directed by Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel.
