The International Film and Music Festival “Kustendorf 2022” is postponed to May, according to the statement from the organizers of the festival.
The “Kustendorf” festival, which was scheduled for January 22nd as an event with guests and in-person audience, has been postponed due to the latest uptick in covid-19 infections, and its highly contagious omicron variant.
As the “Kustendorf” festival is dedicated to gathering filmmakers from all over the world and relies on direct meetings between artists and festival visitors, it was decided to postpone the festival until the epidemiological situation in the country and the world is more stable.
The statement further said that “the decision was difficult, but we believe that in the current epidemiological conditions, with the increase in the number of infected, both in Serbia and around the world, it would not be safe to organize a meeting of hundreds of filmmakers, artists, employees, volunteers, friends and film lovers.
Also, constant changes in the rules and regulations related to travel and quarantine, in different countries from which our guests come, threatened to prevent us from organizing “Kustendorf 2022” as it was intended.
We believe that the situation will improve and we intend to organize this year’s “Kustendorf” with the planned and announced guests in May this year.”
