At the recently held 35th FID festival in Marseille, the award for the best first film went to the Serbian feature Kristina directed by Nikola Spasić. This film was produced with the support of Film Center Serbia and the City of Novi Sad, had its world premiere at the festival.
The film was produced by Rezon Productions and directed by Nikola Spasić, with a screenplay by Milanka Gvoić and cinematography by Igor Lazić, while the leading role was entrusted to Kristina Milosavljević, who plays herself in the film. The synopsis reveals that it is a film about a transgender sex worker, Christina, who lives with cats, collects antiques and is devoted to spirituality. Her life is well planned and predictable until a chance meeting with Marko, a former theology student. At that moment, platonic love is born between these two people whose chance encounters are yet to come.
The FID in Marseille is dedicated to the promotion of new film expressions in auteur film, so both feature and documentary films are included in the selections. This year, the festival was held from July 5th to 11th, and all the films shown in five competitive selections had their world premieres at the festival. Every year, the festival is visited by about 25,000 spectators who have the opportunity to watch the program in theaters, libraries, art galleries and open-air cinemas throughout the city.
