The short film God’s Will by director Tanja Brzaković won the award in the “Popoli e religioni” category at the recently concluded 22nd Religion Today festival in Trento, Italy.
A total of 1700 films applied, and a total of 56 films (short, medium and long, feature and documentary) from 34 countries were selected, and this was the only one from Serbia. The film was nominated in another category – “Religions con gli occhi di donna” (religion through the eyes of a woman). God’s Will had its world premiere on October 1st, 2019 at the 17th Mediterranean Film Festival in Tangier, Morocco.
The short synopsis available reveals the following: Four nuns go to the forest to harvest blackberries and find an injured man of a dubious past. This encounter will put them before a great moral dilemma with an unexpected outcome.
The writer, editor and director of the film is Tanja Brzaković. Her previous documentaries include Jelena’s World, Jovica and His Teeth, and Yellow People from the East Will Come and Drink Water from Morava. The cinematographer is Aleksandar Sergio Kalezić, Mladen Marjanović was in charge of sound , and Janja Lončar did the music. Miloš Drobnjaković did the sound design, while the producer is Jelena Bosanac. The film was produced under the auspices of Berlin-based Filmkraftwerk and in collaboration with Talas Film in Belgrade.
