The specific cultural climate formed at the beginning of the 20th century has made Prague one of the significant fine arts centres of the era. Documentary feature film PRAGUE AND SERBIAN PAINTERS is a story about Serbian painters that spent some time in Prague as students at the Academy of Fine Arts, at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. The film features interviews with prominent art historians from the Czech Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovian, Croatia and Serbia, as well as archive footage, and footage of paintings, photos and original documents. Our film is not only about the influence of the Prague Academy of Fine Arts, but about the social, cultural and historic events that played a key role in forming the identity of Serbian painters during their stay in Prague. Serbian critics and art circles didn't pay equal attention to all of these painters, and as a result, some of the former Prague students wrongfully sank into oblivion. Therefore, beside well-known and acknowledged artists, this film features some other, somewhat forgotten, but undoubtedly outstanding Serbian painters, and any artistic milieu would be, not ashamed, but certainly proud of them!
