Zarko Lausevic was born on January 19th 1960 in Cetinje, Montenegro. He studied acting at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, graduating in 1982. That year he became a member of the Yugoslav Drama Theatre. He played more than thirty seminal roles in this theatre, as well as on film and TV. He has received numerous Yugoslav awards, like the Golden Arena in Pula, Sterija Award, Emperor Constantine, Cele kula Award and Zoran Radmiloviæ Award. On July 31st 1993, Zarko Lausevic and his brother Branimir were attacked near a bar in Podgorica. Zarko used a firearm in self-defense to lethally shoot the two assailants. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison for double murder and use of unnecessary force. After his sentence was revoked by the Federal Court, he was tried again in February 1998 and sentenced to 4 years in prison. Having already served 4 and a half years, he was released. Soon after that, he left the country and relocated to New York. In 2011 he published an autobiographical book, A Year May Pass, But a Day Will Not. He was officially pardoned on December 29th 2011 by the then-president of Serbia, Boris Tadiæ. His Serbian passport was issued to him on February 1st 2012 by the Minister of the Interior, Ivica Dacic. He has recently published his second book, simply titled Second Book.This is a story of an evil time and the many victims it has created.
