OTHERS BEFORE SELF

DRUGI ISPRED MENE
Short documentary film
50’
documentary
The film opens in the author’s art studio, where a meditation group is painting Tibetan mandalas. The proceeds from the sale of these artworks go to fund the education of Tibetan orphans in India. With this documentary, the author takes us along on a journey through the Indian Himalayas to Dharamsala, where the exiled Tibetan community resides. Many scenes feature the Tibetan Children’s Villages, where students are allowed to receive an education in their mother tongue and learn about their ancestral ways. The film itself paints a picture of compassion, cooperation and peace by illuminating the efforts of individuals from the heart of Europe, specifically in Slovenia. Here people believe the schooling and education of children can help keep alive the ancient Tibetan civilization and its commitment to peace and non-violence. Illustrating the movie’s theme is an interview with His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
