German family Weifert, in the mid of eighteenth century settled in Vojvodina, which then belonged to Austria-Hungary monarchy. Because of the valuable work of whole family, Weifert advanced and gained wealth through the establishment of the first brewery plant.In the middle of the nineteenth century George Weifert was born. He was educated in Hungary and Germany where he specialized brewing. Already with 23 years he is opening a beer factory in Belgrade, which he leads and building a great business progress. Over time he becomes a big industrialist. His fields of action are numerous and for the Serbia in that period very important. He established a number of mines in Serbia, became governor of the National Bank of Serbia, the founder of many important institutions, and he was the researcher and excellent numismatist. He was also a great humanist and great contributor and foundation, the builder who raised the Catholic and Orthodox monuments. His life motto was:" We should give, in order to re-acquire."He was a mason, Commander of the Scottish line, master of the Great Lodge of Yugoslavia. In a word he had an incredibly rich and meaningful life with ethical, civil and social point of view, which is a perfect example of the content and meaning that we can follow as good example, not only we in Serbia, but also much wider abroad.George Weifert is, except that his character is on the Serbian coins and that there is still a Weifert beer, almost forgotten in Serbia.
