Cinemas in Serbia have reopened yesterday, after a six-month break, with a Safe Reopening initiative. The cinemas reopened to show select films from last year at special ticket prices.
With the support of Film Center Serbia, all screen operators and distributors were joined under a single drive to reopen, respecting all security measures prescribed by the competent authorities.
“More than 4,000 visitors enjoyed watching movies on the big screen of the Cineplexx cinema yesterday. Among the titles with the greatest interest were the ninth film by the famous director Quentin Tarantino “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”, the action flick “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw “, the favorite of the younger audience “Jumanji: Next Level”, but also the domestic production ” Ajvar “, directed by Ana Maria Rossi, which met with a great reaction from the audience,” said Ivan Hinić, president of the Section of Screenwriters at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
Film Center Serbia recognized that distributors and screeners were the first to feel the interruption in their work due to the pandemic, and that the latter were returning to normalization in business, almost six months after cinemas in Serbia were closed. Because of all this, FCS supported this action to the satisfaction of all stakeholders and the public, and in accordance with the prescribed measures to prevent the spread of the epidemic.
Film Center Serbia has invested significant funds and energy in the development and modernization of cinema infrastructure throughout Serbia, and one of the priorities is for this branch of the film industry to recover as quickly as possible, after a period in which it was unable to generate revenue.
