The ecumenical jury of the Berlin Film Festival has decided to declare the film Father, directed by Srdan Golubović, as the best in the Panorama program of the festival.
The film Father had its world premiere on 22nd of February as part of Panoram, the official program of the 70th edition of the Berlin Film Festival, and last night it had its national premiere at the opening at the 48th FEST in Belgrade. Golubović’s film was a co-production of Serbia, France, Germany, Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and it was produced with the support of the Serbian Film Center.
The Ecumenical Jury Awards, which bring together evangelical and Catholic experts, are presented to films that sensitize viewers to spiritual, human and social values. In 2013, Golubović was awarded the Ecumenical Jury prize for the film Circles.
Father has also won the Audience Award, which is presented to the best-rated film in the Panorama selection. This award has been handed out since 1999 – during Berlinale, viewers are given an opportunity to rate films within the Panorama program, and the film with the highest average rating receives this prestigious award. This year, our representative, Father had the highest average rating in the competition. The official award ceremony for this prestigious award is scheduled for 1st of March, 2020.
