The management board of the European co-production fund Eurimages has announced its support for 32 feature-length European film co-productions, including one minority Serbian co-production – DJ Ahmet, directed by Georgije M. Unkovski, otherwise a co-production of North Macedonia, the Czech Republic and Serbia. Eurimages supported the project with 160,000 euros, and the film was also supported by FCS.
DJ Ahmet is a story about the collision of two generations that live in different worlds, but share the same space.
The film is a collaboration between Cinema Futura Dooel Skopje (Ivan Unkovski and Ivana Nikolovska) and Sektor film (Vladimir Atanasov) from North Macedonia, Alter Vision (Michal Kracmer and Veronika Kuhrova) from the Czech Republic, Backroom Production (Igor Kecman), and Film House Baš Čelik (Jelena Mitrović) from Serbia.
Georgi M. Unkovski is a Macedonian screenwriter and director. Unkovski’s latest short film, Sticker, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2020, and has since participated in more than 18 international film festivals, winning over 50 awards, and was acquired by HBO Europe. Unkovski graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology – Eastman School of Photography, and received his master’s degree from the famous FAMU University in Prague.
