Center, an experimental documentary by Ivan Marković, received the Jury award at ARKIPEL – Jakarta International Documentary and Experimental Film Festival, and on 30th of August, it will be screened at the Marienbad Film Festival in Czechia.
Center is an experimental documentary about physical and social space, as well as the way they connect through architecture and human work. The film visually analyzes the relationship between the monumental forms of a building and the surfaces showing traces of time and neglect. The work of the maintenance staff seems almost in vain against the size of the building that needs significant reconstruction, but it is because of their work that this building, a former idea of the future, survives. Sava Center, a convention hall in Belgrade, is portrayed exclusively through its interior, creating the impression of a temporal and spatial vacuum for which the outside world is a threat.
