As reported by the Tanjug agency, the Belgrade International Film Festival FEST, will be held later this year, in accordance with the calendar of major world film events. The new date of the event will most likely be April.

The Secretary for Culture of the City of Belgrade, Ivan Karl, told Tanjug that FEST 2021 will be held a little later than usual, most likely from April 2nd to 11th. Karl notes that the festival in Berlin has been moved to March, the Oscars to April, Cannes to June, as well as FEST, which, due to its topicality, follows the calendar of major world film events.

“The favorable consequences of vaccination, which is already gaining momentum in Serbia, will be felt in April, and will be even more massive in February and March, both in our country and abroad, which lends support to this date.” With nicer weather before the arrival of spring and, hopefully, much fewer infected and the accompanying relaxation of measures, I think that the audience will be able to feel the festival atmosphere more comfortably, “says Karl.

According to him, the plan is for FEST to take place in fewer halls than usual, and with a larger capacity and with the maximum number of screenings, from morning to late evening, in order to make full use of the number of seats allowed at that time.

“There will be enough films, and the selected program that I had insight into is surprisingly good, having in mind the cinematic year behind us,” Karl pointed out.
