The feature film After Winter, written and directed by Ivan Bakrač, is the Montenegrin candidate for the 94th American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awards in the category of the best international film in 2021. It is also a minority Serbian co-production, supported by FCS.
The decision was made unanimously by the Selection Commission of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, composed of: President Ivan Marinovic, director, and members: directors Gojko Berkuljan and Goran Bjelanović, producer Edin Jašarović, actress Zana Gardašević, playwright Radisav Jevrić and producer Ilija Subotić.
Ivan Bakrač’s film had its world premiere at this year’s Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, as part of the East of the West Competition.
The project of this film was previously supported by Film Center Montenegro, the Croatian Audiovisual Center, Film Center Serbia, as well as the Ministry of Culture of Montenegro, and is a co-production between Montenegro, Serbia, Croatia and France. The companies that participated in the production are: Articulation Film (Montenegro), ABHO Film (Montenegro), Action Film (Serbia), Biberche Productions (Serbia), Maxima Film (Croatia) and Arizona Productions (France).
