Today marks the official opening of the 30th edition of the Palić European Film Festival . At the opening, the “Aleksandar Lifka” award will be presented to the famous Serbuab actor Bogdan Diklić, for his outstanding contribution to European cinematography.

After the ceremony, the main competition program will be opened with a screening of the Cannes favorite Jeane Du Barry directed by Maïwenn, in which one of the key roles is played by Hollywood actor Johnny Depp.

Along with Bogdan Diklić, this year’s “Lifka” winners are director Andreas Drezen in the category of foreign creators and actor Nikola Ristanovski from North Macedonia in the regional category. Multimedia artist Marija Kanjas is the winner of this year’s “Underground spirit” award given by the “Festival of European Film Palić” for exceptional work in the field of independent film.

The main competition selection of this year’s Palić European Film Festival consists of the following films: “Red Sky” by Christian Pezold, “Seneca: On the Making of an Earthquake” by Robert Schwenke, “Trapped” by Vasilis Katsupis, “Three Thousand Numbered Parts” by Adam Chasi, “The Land of Short Sentences” by Hela Joff, “Overexposed” by Eleonora Veninova, “Ingeborg Bachmann – Journey to the Desert” by Margareta Von Trotte (out of competition), “Zero Calories” by Jeje sike Hausner, “Old Oak” by Ken Loach, “Perfect Days” by Wim Wenders (out of competition), “Jeanne Du Barry” by Maïwenn and “Protection First” by Pavel Vučković (out of competition).

In the competitive selection of the “Parallels and Collisions” program, the following films will be shown: “Love Slowly” by Maria Kavtaradza, “Coal” by Jon Bors, “Living Saint” by Tinatin Kairishvili, “Cold as Marble” by Asif Rustamov, “Embryo-Larva-Butterfly” by Kyros Papavasilou, “Do you love me?” by Tonya Nojabrova, “Bread and Salt” by Damian Kocur, “Everyday Mistakes” by Kristina Grossan, “Power” by Maćasa Prikler, “Sisters” Linda Olta, and “Penal and Sexual life of Ana Đ.” (out of competition).

During the duration of the festival, there will be films in nine other selections: “Young Spirit of Europe”, “North Macedonia in Focus”, “New Hungarian Film”, “New European Documentaries”, “Eco dox”, “Tribute to the winner of the Underground Spirit Award”, “EFA Shorts”, “Selection of films from the Zygmond Vilmos Festival”, and a Selection of student films. The program will include several additional films as part of special screenings.

The accompanying program of the festival will include the Workshop for Young Critics, MIOB workshop for social media, Environmental panel discussion “Consequences of the use of depleted uranium ammunition in the NATO aggression in 1999 – inspiration for cinematographers”, the exhibition “Traces of a time – Film poster 1980-1989”, the exhibition “Mija Aleksić – to be an actor”, on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of this Serbian great actor, the exhibition of various posters advertising the festival from its fifth to its 30th edition, the “Moments of the Festival” exhibition, a panel of the Network of Cinema Screeners of Serbia, severak book promotions, as well as a rich music program.

Two festivals will also be presented: “Karlovci Film Festival” and “ABIFF – International Film Festival of Animation” from Bucharest. AFIFS awards for Best Serbian film and for the Best film in a Serbian minority co-production in the past year will be awarded, under the auspices of Film Center Serbia.
