The 51st Sopot Film Festival “SOFEST” will be held from July 3rd to July 8th. The awards will be decided by a jury consisting of director Ana Maria Rossi, actress Mihaela Stamenković and composer Rade Radivojević.
Aleksandar Avramović, artistic director of the festival, Živorad Milosavljević, president of the festival board, Dragana Čolić, director of the Cultural Center in Sopot, and Colonel Goran Ikonić, director of the Military Film Center “Zastava Film”, spoke about the festival at the press conference.
The artistic director of the festival, Aleksandar Avromović, reminded that the first fifty years of the festival ended with a state medal award “for special services to the Republic of Serbia and its citizens in public and cultural activities”, which belongs to thousands of artists and film workers who have incorporated their works in this festival.
In the program of the festival, the film “A Mouth full of Earth”, the last film of the legendary director Puriša Đorđević, was particularly highlighted. He said that the rest of the films were made mostly by younger authors and that “a plethora of brilliant, talented actors” perform in th efilms.
Avramović stated that the six-day program of the festival includes 37 titles, among which are nine top-quality works by animation masters from the “Zastava film” fund, and he cited the 75th anniversary of “Zastava film” as the occasion, where many pearls of film heritage were created. In connection with this, Avramović also announced a special exhibition which, together with Đorđe Kadijević’s collages, will be displayed in the Gallery of the Cultural Center in Sopot.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the legendary film “Butterfly”, the artistic director announced a panel with the author Đorđe Kadijević and Dejan Ognjanović, the writer of the monograph on Kadijević.
He also singled out the short feature film “Svašta” from the program, directed by Strahinja Mlađenović, with the legendary hostess of the Sopot festival, the tavernkeeper Nada Savkić, in the lead role.
