The tenth edition of the “Mister Worky” International Film Festival will be held from June 21st to June 25th at the “Brana Crnčević” Cultural Center and the “Atanasije Stojković” City Library in Ruma. It will be accompanied by numerous programs and will include 100 short films in competitive selections. Admission to all competition and accompanying film programs is free.
In the competition program of one-minute films, according to the selection of selector Marko Kostić, 81 shortest films will be shown. The awards in this category will be decided by a three-member regional jury consisting of: Ivana Kronja, cultural theorist and film critic from Belgrade, Vladislav Knežević, film author from Zagreb and Milen Alempijević, artistic director of the Animanima festival from Čačak.
Most of the one-minute films in the competition program, as many as 11, were produced domestically.
In the competition program named “9413” 19 productions will be shown, according to the choice of the selector Milan Milosavljević, diverse both in terms of style and genre. The best short films will be selected by Alan Brown, director of experimental films from Montreal. In three competition nights, four domestic films will be shown – “Fat Tuesday” by Aleksandrija Ajduković, “The Misfits” by Dejan Petrović, “Zvezda” by Danilo Stanimirović and “Wait For Me Here” by Aleksa Borković.
In the non-competitive program Panorama of domestic short films, five domestic documentaries and short feature films will be shown.
The main topic of this year’s festival is “Vorkapić: Film and the 21st century”, which will be discussed with the festival guests on Sunday, June 25. At the official opening, on Thursday, June 22, the newly established “Slavko Vorkapić” award will be handed to the prominent film director Želimir Žilnik, “for recognition and consistency of film style and expression”. The same evening, the opening of the exhibition “Sonja Savić – a girl from the city”, which is realized in cooperation with the Art Gallery “Nadežda Petrović” from Čačak, will be held. The members of the jury will give lectures and presentations, and the iconic Belgrade music author Nikola Vranjković will have a concert on Friday, June 23rd, in the Great Hall of the Cultural Center.
The visual identity of the festival poster was created by Dejan Delić, and the jingle of the festival was produced by an animator from Bor, Mihajlo Dragaš. Romanian artists Branislav Crvenković and Željko Radić created the festival’s prizes. The founder and organizer of the festival is the Independent Film Center Vorky Team, which tirelessly continues the mission of propagandizing the life and works of the great film artist – Slavoljub Slavko Vorkapić, in cooperation with the Cultural Center “Brana Crnčević” and the City Library “Atanasije Stojković”.
The patrons of the festival are the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia and the Municipality of Ruma. Local partners, sponsors and media also gave their support to the Mister Worky festival.
