YU GRUPA - A FLEETING DREAM

An intimate family portrait spanning 80 years, weaving together the story of three communities: the family, the rock band, and the doomed country – Yugoslavia. The three brothers were born right after the WW II together with the new country -Yugoslavia. Growing up in hopeful Yugoslavia during the 1950s, they named their rock band after their country - Yu Grupa. Their band ironically outlived the doomed country that it was named after. Using intimate Super 8 home films blended with a wealth of Yugoslav Film Archives footage spanning decades, the film thematizes the moments in the history of Yugoslavia, weaving them together with personal struggles, collapsing barriers between epic and intimate, past and present.
