AVALA BATTLE MOUNTAIN

Avala, near Belgrade in the recent history was the place where three accidents happened: a soldier from the First World War was killed there, the plane of the Russian delegation coming to the 20th anni­ versary of the liberation of Belgrade crashed near the TV tower in 1964 and demolition of that same TV tower during the bombing in 1999. In a symbolic way, this is a story about the creation and decline of the state called Yugoslavia.
