After numerous awards and qualifications for the Oscar nomination, the feature-length documentary film by director Željko Mirković Tesla Nation will be shown on PBS Cleveland, WVIZ World. As part of the Serbian Statehood Day, the film will have its TV premiere on February 16th at 7 p.m.

The film presents an unusual journey through the past and present of a nation, from the landing of the first Serb on American soil more than 200 years ago to the present day.

Through the stories of prominent Serbs, in addition to Nikola Tesla and Mihajlo Pupin, you will meet the three-time Pulitzer Prize winner Walt Bogdanich, Gordana Vunjak Novakovic, the only wife of a member of the New York Academy of Sciences, Serbian Apollo engineers, legendary Academy Aeard winners Karl Malden, Steve Tesic and Peter Bogdanovich, as well as others whose name is woven into history. In the film, you can hear the story of the first Serb in America, George Fischer (George Sagic), whose name is in Livingston’s book “100 Famous Americans”, but also interesting facts, like the one that the famous GI Joe action figure was inspired by a Serbian-American hero, Mihajlo Pejić.

This documentary series and film was produced by Optimistic Film and RTS, at the initiative of the Tesla Science Foundation in Philadelphia, and the film was supported by the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia, the US Embassy in Belgrade and the Council for Creative Industries, and Serbian People’s Union (SNF) of Pittsburgh.

The film was directed and produced by Željko Mirković.

Executive producers are Nikola Lončar, Djordje Jovičić, Mikan Velinović and Borislav Jovičin.

The narrator is  Jack Dimic, and the script is was written by Miloš Rastović, Marko Lopušina and Željko Mirković.
