The documentary “4 Years in 10 Minutes” by Mladen Kovačević has recieved another festival accolade – the best documentary award at the 4th International Ibiza CINEFEST Independent Film Festival in Spain. This notable film, which also had its African premiere at the end of last month, was produced with the support of Film Center Serbia (FCS).

4 years in 10 minutes, after having its world premiere and being awarded at the Visions du Reel Film Festival in Nyon, Switzerland, has been screened at many other festivals around the world. It has received the award for best Serbian documentary film at this year’s Beldocs International Documentary Film Festival.

This is an experimental archival documentary about the first conquest of Mount Everest by a Serb, Dragan Jaćimović, a man from Pančevo , whose diary records and video archive were used as film material during the expedition. The film material was composed from tapes that have been collecting dust for 17 years.

Narrated with quotes from the protagonist’s diary, the film draws an intimate picture of an unusual journey into eternal glory. Extraterrestrial landscapes, unfathomable characters, scary moments, and the dream of an adventure that instead of victory ends with a cry of defeat.

Writer and director is Mladen Kovačević . The film was edited by Jelena Maksimović and the sound designer is Jakov Munižaba. The producer is Iva Plemić Divjak. The film was made within the Horopter Film Production house, with the support of the Film Center Serbia.
