The Perspectives programme of the 49th Rotterdam International Film Festival (January 22nd – February 2nd) will feature the short film Dreamland by Canadian author Alan Brown, produced as part of the residency program at Alternative Film / Video in Belgrade organized by the Academic Film Center of the Student City Cultural Center in New Belgrade.
Dreamland is an unusual experimental journey, through imaginary images taken in Serbia that are intertwined with the author’s art montage approach, and recordings of northern Canada (Canadian Shield area), with hypnotic and paranoid audio frequencies about alien invasion. This movie had its world premiere at last year’s March Festival. The author hails from the Canadian province of Quebec and has produced more than 25 short experimental films and one feature film (Silver), which were screened at the most renowned experimental and avant-garde film festivals and festivals.
