At the recently concluded 72nd Locarno Film Festival, several Serbian authors and projects were awarded. The Romanian-Serbian film Ivana the Terrible (Ivana cea Groaznică) by Ivana Mladenović won a special jury award. This movie had its world premiere in the official selection of “Concorso Cineasti del presente”. The title role in the film is played by the director, and the film also stars Anca Pop, Gordana Mladenović, Luka Gramić, Miodrag Mladenović, Kosta Mladenović, Živka Sorejević, Andrei Dinescu. The film was supported by Film Center of Serbia through its competition for co-financing the production of minority Serbian co-productions, when it was still tentatively titles Summer Evening, Half Past Ten. The production is a collaboration between MicroFILM and the Danube 84.

The film The Last Picture of the Father by Stefan Djordjević was named by the Young Jury as the best short film in the International Selection. This film was produced with the support of the Film Center of Serbia and SeeCinema Network, and was part of the official international competition in the “Pardi di domani” selection. The film was made under the auspices of the production company All Inclusive Films, while co-produced by Emote Production. Co-producers are Antitalent from Croatia, Staragar from Slovenia and Minos Nikolakakis from Greece. The film stars Igor Benčina and Marko Matić.

The „First Look“ selection of this years Locarno Film Festival has also awarded support to several Serbian films in development: Celts by Milica Tomović (main prize), Telenovela en gris y multicolor by Filip Martinović and Landscapes of Resistance by  Marta Popivoda.
