BLOODY EURO

"Bloody Euro" is a short film that explores the conflict between the innocence of childhood dreams and the harsh reality of the adult world. The film begins with archival videos of my sister's birthday celebrations, recorded through the 90s on a single VHS tape. Those videos are not only a document of the entire decade, but a testimony of our family's efforts to preserve the normality and joy of childhood, despite the social circumstances. With the help of friends and family who are part of that tape, I brought to life familiar characters from my childhood, sharing their past through a fictional story set in the old family house. This film shows characters dealing with isolation, displacement and yearning for belonging and freedom. Yet, despite these opposing worlds, a glimpse of hope emerges, leading them on a path of perseverance to a place of understanding and maturity.
