The 32nd edition of the Premiers Plan Film Festival d’Anger kicks off in the city of Angers in the west of France today; the festival is focused on the debut and / or films of young and younger authors, and this edition will see three entries by directors from Serbia. All three films were supported by the Film Center Serbia.
The frist film is Ivana the Terrible by Ivana Mladenović, a Serbian-Romanian coproduction. This film received a special recognition award at the esteemed Locarno Film Festival, and was honored with a major festival medal at the Zagreb Film Festival. It is scheduled to be screened at both Kustendorf and Trieste Film Festivals. The second film is the short The Last Picture of Father, by Stefan Djordjević, also awarded at the last year’s Locarno Festival and the Sarajevo Film Festival, where it has won the Heart of Sarajevo for the best short film. The program of the festival in Angers will also feature the short documentar Then Comes the Evening, by Maja Novaković. This film premiered at the Visions du Reel festival in Nyon, as well as at the prestigious Hot Docs Festival in Canada, it was awarded at the Belgrade Auteur Film Festival (as was Djordjević’s film) and the 6th Pančevo Film Festival. It was also screened at dozens of other film festivals around the world.
