Festival Animanima 2021 will be held from November 4th to 6th, organized by the House of Culture Čačak and under the auspices of the City of Čačak and the Ministry of Culture and Information. Due to the unstable epidemiological situation, the 15th festival edition will take place online.
The festival program “On Thin Ice: Who’s Laughing There?” Brings a collection of animated comedies, and the magazine “Under the Skin: The Road to Hidden Places” brings animated works filled with suspense and unexpected narrative solutions. The films of the young animator from Ukraine who lives and works in the USA, Nate Metluk, will be the topic of the program “Meet the animator”. In the spirit of her generation, ironically but critically, she observes modern man and the world around him. The same world of our modern age, which, more and more often, suffers from its neuroses and neuralgias, is also described by films from the collection of the Canadian online video portal STASH, from which we made a selection under the title “State of (im)balance”.
Memory is as fragile as human life itself, every note is precious, and this assumption is supported by a cycle of documentary animated films from the “Animanima.DOCS” program. We also recommend interesting topics from online presenters Miloš Tomić (Serbia), Isaac King (Canada), Lea Vidaković (Serbia) and Sava Živković (Serbia), whose video presentations will be available during the festival days on Animanima’s platform. The O! PLA and Cee Animation programs will offer works by young authors from Central and Eastern Europe. Even the youngest fans of animation (7+) will have their own digital corner. The only program in the physical space will be the exhibition on the covers of the Slovenian comic magazine STRIPBURGER.
More detailed information on the conditions of using the video platform, and all programs, can be found on the festival website.
